Disclaimer: I’m a Rawxies ambassador; I absolutely love their products. I wouldn’t represent any brands i did not love. I receive product occasionally but no monetary compensation.
It’s WIAW y’all, and I’m pretty excited about being halfway through the week. It’s been a quietly busy week; I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s actually possible. It’s a combination of time for mental, spiritual, emotional care and activity. It’s what’s been filling up my heart and soul lately. However, the real thing on my mind is to give you an update on my struggles with digestion and some encouraging developments. One of the primary gifts has been actually figuring out the problems with my digestion.
You see; IBS runs in my family, and I’ve began to be able to pinpoint things that trigger really painful cramps and (sorry for a bit TMI) gas. A few of those foods have included:
I’m thankful for God’s incredible grace and mercy, in that I’m still able to eat a great deal of foods. I can handle dairy and grains and sugar in moderate amounts; I can even enjoy beans (in small amounts.)
Problems may come, but God’s grace is ALWAYS greater. God’s grace is always bigger, and I know that God is greater than my small problems. I’m trusting in what Jesus said in Mark 10:26-27, ‘
‘And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved? And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.’
IBS is not something that is usually entirely done away with, but I know I can work with my digestion and avoid foods that trigger problems with my digestion. I want to really go for foods that make my body happy, my mental state happy, and my emotions stable…
It’s a journey, but I’m learning to love it. I’m actually really thankful to have received advice from trusted friends.
I’m also looking into and thinking about options for dietitians/nutritionists to help. I’m learning not to be ashamed of my weaknesses. They are the way God points me to Jesus and how He gives us others to help us.
This is a bit random, but I was thinking about finding nutritionists, and I was blessed by this podcast Georgie did with a soon to be Dietitian. She was so balanced, real, and refreshing. I think you would be encouraged by giving it a listen.
First Breakfast: I think I have a bit of hobbit in my blood, because I like to do numerous meals every day. Yesterday’s breakfast started with an Apple Cinnamon RX bar from my blogger friend Kaila.
Second Breakfast: A fluffy light slice of One Degree Organics toast with Georgia Grinder’s Pecan Butter (It is SO CREAMY y’all. You NEED to try it. Lately one of my ‘problems’ has been choosing which nut butter to use. That’s not a bad problem is it?), Bhappy Peanut Butter, and Chai Grape Jam from Emily.
An Odd but DELICIOUS Lunch: Since I’m a Rawxies ambassador, I used a leftover baked potato, topped it with some sauce, salsa, cheese, and Rawxies crackers (the Curry Chipotle flavor).
Lunch Part II While Baking… I baked two brownie recipes. One was grain free, and the other was gluten free. The second one turned out a bit odd, because I didn’t use eggs. We were out of eggs, so because of that problem, I pulled out the chia seed bag and made an egg substitute.
They were still very chocolatey and delicious; so I would call it another one of those ‘problems solved.’ 🙂
Dinner: One of the problems that confronts you is how many toppings you can put on top of your taco salad without overwhelming your plate. It becomes quite the creation… My foodie blogger friends remind me of how to appreciate those food holidays that come around every week including:
Kelly makes some of the most epic toast creations if you need to get toast inspiration. You can find her at her Instagram: @eatthegains. 🙂
Post Dinner Snack is usually a LOT of cereal, but I don’t have a picture, so I won’t bore you with one more picture . . .
I couldn’t not share with you the absolute majestic gorgeous beauty of the mountains when we went up on Monday. Come and visit me in Colorado, ok?
Isn’t it awesome?
“By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea: Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power: Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness. They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.” (Psalm 65:5-12)
Oh, and then there is our faces after we take our goggles off; it’s pretty bright out there. 🙂
