Thank you Jenn for the link-up! I can’t wait to see what everybody else has been eating as we ring in the fall season!
Traveling + eating presents a kink into the plans of someone who is struggling with recovery. It often did for me, as I dreaded going out to eat while traveling, eating different foods, gas station food, or even just being offered more food than I thought I could eat.
Yet, each time I travel has been another step, another test of faith. It tests just how much I trust God vs. myself and my feelings, and each time I have little victories along the way.
This time was no different, and it had to have been one of the most freeing vacations I’ve had in a while. Eating airport food was actually fun, and I wasn’t hyper-analyzing calories like before. That has taken years of vacations and trips to come to that point, but I am so thankful that God has and is changing me.
The last couple days at my aunt and uncle’s house were wonderful in every way. I’m kind of combining a couple days into one to give you an idea of what I ate while I was there! There was a little Asian food, a little Dutch bro’s, and even some icecream thrown in there. 🙂 Oh, and don’t forget the oatmeal y’all!
Breakfast: A bowl of hot oats, salted almonds from Costco, cottage cheese, peanut butter, brown sugar, and a banana on the side for some extra CARBS!
Lunch: Lunch was a bit lighter with an unpictured bread roll and cheese + broccoli salad, bacon, peanuts, and craisins. I may have had a piece of watermelon and peanut butter bread later too. 😉
Dinner: Wow, this dinner brings me right back to my heritage, at least part of it. I’m 1/4 Japanese, and I love almost all Asian food including curry. It was also a chilly day, so a warm bowl of curry and rice hit the spot.
And of course, I am still in summer mode, so a bowl of icecream sounded pretty good later. 🙂 (P.S. If you want a good, ‘cheap’ bar of chocolate, Cadbury is the way to go!
Yesterday, I also had one of the best smoothies I’ve ever tasted. I’m sure the amount of sugar in it (even though it was a real fruit smoothie) was astronomical, but it was really good, and I’m thanking God for the sugar cane! 😉
