Recently, life has been a series of learning some really good things. I’ve been loving puppies, eating tons of peanut butter, and experiencing hanger (not real anger) like never before. Some of the biggest things that I’ve been learning are:
#1) You can not be the perfect Christian. Jesus is perfect. Look to Him for His perfect righteousness that covers you. Though my sins were as scarlet, in Him they are as white as snow. So quit trying to ‘be perfect’ and TRUST in Jesus, not yourself. (John 14, John 3:16)
#2) God made you. God cares for you. He even knows the hairs on your head, so why would you be anxious (Matthew 6, Psalm 37)
#3) No matter how hard the battle is, you are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus who loves you. (Romans 8)
#4) You are no longer condemned because Christ has taken the condemnation of the law and replaced it with a love for God’s law in you. (Romans 10:4, Romans 8)
I am no really knowledgeable or wise Christian, but I do have a loving and merciful Heavenly Father. I have a High Priest, Jesus, who is my I’m so thankful that I’m experiencing more and more of His mercy as I read Scripture, walk through life, stop caring so much about what I eat, and really enjoy Him and His glorious goodness and truth in daily life. . .
I’m just walking down this road, and I’m grateful that some of you want to come with me.
I thought I would combine the typical WIAW with a fun ‘recently’ post. I always enjoy when my friends do a recently post, because it really helps me to learn more about them, their loves, hates, lives, desires, dreams, and daily delights. 🙂
So bloggers, if you’re reading, please continue to do those ‘Recently’ posts. We love learning about you.
Recent Recreation: Snowboarding hands down. Getting out there and finally enjoying it without constantly falling and wondering if I just died is AMAZING. Of course it took about 15 times. #slowlearner
‘Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.’ (Romans 10:1-4)
(This is so humbling because I realized how much I am often running to my own way of making myself right with God instead of looking to Jesus Christ, my only Savior as the fulfillment of God’s perfect salvation. It also makes me want to have more of a heart for other’s souls.)
‘The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.’ (Exodus 15:2-4)
It’s so humbling to think of how many times I haven’t trusted God and how He parts Red Seas in our lives when we aren’t even expecting it.
Recent Favorite Recipe: These absolutely incredible Paleo Chunky Monkey Bars from Rachel and Bethany. I added chocolate chips and some oatmeal, so I guess they aren’t paleo anymore, but the pecans in it made it so so indescribably doughy and nutty.
Recent Favorite Recovery Food: Toast. I’ve been having all the toast with all the nut butter, fruit butter, jelly, chocolate, and fruit. I think the toast must weigh at least 8 oz. by the time it’s done. It’s so filling, especially because I’ve been really hungry every morning, and I like to take the dogs for a run. I make a big piece of toast, and it doesn’t make my stomach hurt. Yet it also means that I don’t have to do the workout on an empty stomach. (CALORIES for the win!)
Recent Body Image/Food/Recovery Posts:
I wrote this one on Monday, because I truly want to be less mindful of ‘eating’ and calories and more mindful of blessings and the presence and reality of Jesus Christ in my life every day.
Recent Favorite Blog Posts: Other delightful recovery posts and life posts that I’ve read these past few weeks:
Recent Recovery Struggle: Sometimes it’s really hard to eat when you’re bloated. My parents and I realised last week that I probably do have IBS, which runs in the family. That means that some things set my stomach off, but it’s not always consistent. It’s not even necessarily low FODMAP foods that make my stomach happy? It’s weird.
Wow. God’s care and compassion and mercy are new every morning! Without the blogging community I would have never met these women.
Recent Afternoon Delight: Huskies and sled dog pulling… God made these animals to pull. It’s incredible watching them pull the sleds through the snow.
Recent Sweet Tooth Satisfaction: Bhappy Peanut Butter on yogurt? Need I say more? This one is called ‘Count Your Blessings.’ If you’ve been reading for a while, you’ll know that this is one of my absolute favorite ‘dessert peanut butters.’
These would be a mix of yesterday’s eats and the day before, so welcome to all the randomness and deliciousness of my crazy life.
Tuesday Breakfast: A wonderful piece of toast with Peanut Butter & Co Dark Chocolate Dreams (finishing up the last of my jar for the French Toast collab I did with them), Earth Balance Coconut Peanut Butter from a FRIEND foodie exchange I did (I’ve never tried it, but I’ve been eating it on everything!), Honey yogurt, and Kauffman Farms Pumpkin Butter.
Tuesday Lunch: (This is a picture from last week but it’s the exact same thing I ate today) : I ate spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, and salad + a scoop of Greek God’s Honey Yogurt with Bhappy Peanut Butter.
Tuesday Snack? Unpictured: Of course I nommed on one of Bethany and Rachel’s Chunky Monkey Bars (mentioned above).
Tuesday Dinner: A huge plate of taco salad for ‘taco Tuesday.’ …. I also was craving, oddly enough, Apple Baked Oatmeal from Kristy, for dessert, so I made a huge pan of it and we ate it for dessert.
Tuesday Night Snack is almost always a big mug of cereal and since I just bought 8-10 boxes of cereal that were on sale at Safeway, it’s going to be an epic mug. (I’m finishing this post before eating it, but I want to know:
