Hunger is one of the most common issues brought up during eating disorder recovery.
When a girl has restricted and deprived her body for so long, the last thing she wants to think about is eating and lots of it.
One of the most difficult things is the fact that she’s just not hungry, and why would she eat if she’s not hungry?
Well, your body needs it. You may have tricked your body into it, but your body needs that food. God made your body to need those calories. If your menstruation is gone, that is especially a good indication of it.
As you eat, I promise you the hunger will come. And when it comes it comes like a hurricane. I remember, eating again after having restricted for so long, my body just wanted more and more. I had never felt like this in my life, but I literally felt like a ‘bottomless’ pit. I just couldn’t get full.
Thankfully, that did level off, and I’m not a bottomless pit anymore. So, don’t give up if you’re not hungry yet. Feed your body. Take care of God’s temple, so that you can serve the Lord Jesus for years to come.
