I love ice cream. And I also like to eat it every day. Some might say that it’s not a good choice to have your desserts every day, but much of recovery has been relearning that life is not about calories or the amount of cream I eat in a day. Some people can’t eat cream, and there are delicious alternatives like ‘So Delicious’, but right now I’m thankful that I am still able to eat ice cream.
Why do I eat it every day?
- It’s a sweet reminder of God’s kindness and mercy, mercy that I didn’t deserve, but a reminder that grace is ‘undeserved favor.’ Ice cream is a small, sweet reminder of that.
- It’s time to spend with my family. We rejoice over God’s faithfulness during the day and His sustaining love.
- It’s also an amazing way of conquering fear foods and remembering the absolutely only perfect love that casts out that terror and fear. ‘There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.’ (1 John 4:18)
Without further delay let’s get into the day of EEATS! 🙂 It’s the ‘WIAW’ link-up where we don’t compare what we eat but instead we appreciate and build community, conversations, and friendship around food, a precious gift from the Almighty God, Maker of Heaven and Earth!
‘Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice’ (Psalm 96:12)
I am DEFINITELY a morning person. I was reminded of this after reading Georgie’s post about morning routines.
The mornings just always are filled with a sense of new hope, an excitement about what God will do and His plans, a thankfulness for life, and just the joy of sunshine streaming in the window.
I started the day yesterday with:
Lunch: For some reason I just got busy and lunch crept up! My body was thanking the Lord for the wonderful carby bowl of spaghetti, sauce, cheese, and a random pickle.
Snack Time: A HUGE apple. The apples this time of year are AMAZING. Go get some if you haven’t had any. I’m hoping to make apple sauce or apple cobbler tomorrow. I got to make Laura’s Paleo Apple Cake for a neighbor. It smelled so good!
Un-pictured Snack: Half a container of Mountain High Plain yogurt. 🙂
Food for the Soul: ‘
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ;’ (Ephesians 4:17-20)
Dinner: Taco Tuesday!!! Did you celebrate? 🙂
And of course we topped it off with ice-cream.
I usually end up with having a night time snack of cereal… I am 100% honest here saying that I kind of still roughly count calories in my head, but I usually aim for around 2500 calories. It may seem like a lot for my 5’3″ 130 pound frame, but it’s what keeps this girl in recovery going to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and sing His praises!
Food for the Soul: (A miraculous reminder of the power of God despite the effects of sin. GOD wins!)
‘And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering. And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers. But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:12-19)
Jesus saves!!!! He does, and there is no other name like His that brings healing to the soul.
