Recovery has been a journey of finding joy for me instead of focusing on the hardship. Life has been a journey of learning to find joy in the Lord every single day, knowing that He never changes even when everything around me changes. For me it’s been a journey of finding joy in the Lord, finding fullness and love and grace and forgiveness in Him. And I’m learning to do that every day through little recovery wins and big ones.
In the midst of this journey of learning joy in the Lord every day, I found a blogger named Georgie who is a huge influence and a fun, sweet outgoing introvert. She stood out to me, because she had recovered from an eating disorder.
She would always find ways to share joy with those in the blogging community. She captured beautiful small moments, ones that I often didn’t think mattered until I saw how much beauty there was in each little thing. There are ways to find joy each and every day, and they are often unexpected.
I didn’t take the time to stop and see the beauty in the small things, to appreciate the puppies God had made, the flowers He had designed, and the brilliant sunsets He paints. I was often so ultra focused on calories or the minutes I’d exercised, and I missed those things.
And that’s what Georgie’s blog and Instagram taught me, so I thought I would reach out to her and ask her to share about this journey of finding joy in the little things. I asked her how she finds joy everyday in life lessons, from blogging to eating to relationships.
It was awesome, and it was such a joy. I hope you find joy in listening to Georgie and find joy in the gifts you’ve been given!
I wanted this to be really real and raw, so I didn’t edit most of it, because the sound quality was so good (thanks to Georgie who recorded it for me!).
Some of my favorite posts that have really stood out to me from Georgie, that shine her personality, the lessons she’s learned, and the joy she has shared are:
Some of Georgie’s favorite foods are so simple, and I think you would even find fun ideas on her Instagram or her blog for quick vegetarian meals. My favorite creations of her definitely include her posts of avocado toast and cookie dough.
One of the best things that Georgie has been doing while in London to find joy in every day is discovering the coolest coffee shops. I always want to reach through and have a bite of her scone with her.

I wanted to end this episode/post by sharing some verses on joy that remind me where to find joy everyday.
‘Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,’ (James 1:2)
‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.’ (Romans 15:13)
‘Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.’ (Philippians 4:4)
‘These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.’ (John 15:11)
‘Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:’ (1 Peter 1:8)
‘For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.’ Romans 14:17
‘“For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.’ (Isaiah 55:12)
May your day be filled with JOY in little and big things like green donuts, pink donut pans, and fluffy puppies.
God is good. And His grace, His love for us, love for me in Christ endures forever.
