It all started 6 years ago, when I began comparing myself to everybody else and just brimming to the top with jealousy over the fact that I didn’t, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get mine to look just right.
God delights in variety. That’s why He didn’t just make broccoli, carrots, wheat, and chicken for us to eat. He created everything from broccoli, kale, onions, turnips, and parsnips to strawberries, pears, bananas, pineapples, mangoes, and even sugar cane for our enjoyment.
We can’t be someone we weren’t created to be. That doesn’t mean that we can’t change and learn and grow, but it means that God did not make a mistake when He designed your body and your metabolism and your personality. God is a perfect God, an unchangeable God, and a God whose plans for us are good, sometimes hard, but not evil.
I am, in a very broken and clumsy way, beginning to truly appreciate the way God made me. I can’t spend my life selfishly always wanting more like a dry and thirsty mouth. God has truly filled my cup. He has given me a life, a family, a home, and most of all salvation through His Son. I don’t have anything to be ungrateful about, but I have all the reasons in the world to praise Him for the way He has made me and all the ways He will break and remake me.
