I’ve been eating more than I used to even when I was running a lot. And I have to confess that it’s hard to be okay with eating more especially when my ‘feelings’ say that I don’t deserve that food. Yet I was reminded by a Bible study I’m going through that feelings are NOT reality. What God says is my reality; so what does He say about that food, that nourishment? I LOVED coming on this passage in Deuteronomy 8, because it reminded me just how much of a gift nourishment is, whether or not I’m training for a big race or just doing small workouts here and there.
‘Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;
8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;
9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.
10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.’ (Deuteronomy 8:6-10)
That’s what nourishment is; it’s a gift from God. I still need it even when I’m not training. I still need it even when I’m just sitting here enjoying rest and writing this blog post.
That’s what this past week was; it was a week of truly learning to enjoy that nourishment combined with a LOT of couch time, a lot of down time, a lot of mental and physical rest.
There was this comforting bowl of lentil rice soup!
There was Sunday’s day of rest with lots of eats including this Paleo MeeNut Butter jar with yogurt inside. – If you want to try this DELICIOUS chocolatey coconut butter or any of their others you can use my affiliate code, ‘beautyinchrist.’
These Cookies from Taylor were DELICIOUS, and they combined some of my FAVE flavors – Peanut Butter, Oatmeal, and Banana, and I added chocolate chips. How can you go wrong?
A Perfect Bar Flavor that I have severly underrated. – I often pick their:
Coconut Peanut Butter
Dark Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter
but I have not given enough credit to the other flavors of:
Fruit and Nut
Dark Chocolate Almond
and I don’t think that even covers all of them. But if you have not tried these bars, and you live in the US you NEED (emphasis on NEED. :D) to try one at least. Let me know what you think if you do! (Nope I’m not an ambassador. I just love ’em.)
A Pool of Georgia Grinder’s Crunchy PB on my Siggi’s Yogurt with A Ghirardelli Chocolate Square – I’ve been loving a little bit of chocolate with breakfast because I’m ALL for the food freedom!
Enjoying creamy bowls of Whole Milk Yogurt with Reese’s Pieces, Fruit, and More PB. – Nourishing your body is SOOO comforting y’all, and it’s worth it not ignoring the cravings and just going with each day as it comes. It really is teaching me more about trusting God instead of anxious feelings.
Last but not least, I nommed on this chicken salad with Beet chips (i’m not quite sure what I think about these), but I daresay I’m kind of dying to try Cora’s Beet Bread because it’s a beautiful pink and I LOVE homemade bread.
Right now I would say I’m training for ‘intuitive living’ instead of trying to control every day of my life with anxiety and fear over the next meal, over whether or not I’ll be hungry, over whether or not I should eat because I’m hungry but not hungry enough, and I’m super grateful for this opportunity.
Training for intuitive living is something that Robyn and Sarah have taught me is not easy in a diet culture, but I think it’s possible. I’m learning that it’s possible through Jesus, knowing my identity is in Him and not what I eat or what I don’t eat.
What are you training for? Training for intuitive living, intuitive eating, a race, or ???
Do you ever have a hard time still nourishing yourself even if you’re not ‘training’ for an official race?
