I wrote this post after I received several samples of Wild Tree spice packets from a friend. She asked if I could write a blog post, and since I love to cook (and I love pasta) I said, ‘Yes!’ All opinions of the product used are definitely 100% my own!
I want to make it no secret that although I’m not Italian, I love pasta. Stroganoff, spaghetti, fettucine, and any other pasta that you want to throw my way (unless it includes a lot of odd seafood); I will definitely eat it.
Yet pasta used to be a fear food. I used to have a great deal of fear foods. But the perfect love of God does cast out all that fear, because now there is no pasta dish that I’m really afraid of; some times I have a hard time ordering them/eating them at restaurants, but that’s still a work in progress.
However the other night, my younger sister let me do her dinner for that night, and I used the ‘stroganoff’ seasoning packet that Kelsey from Wild Tree sent me.
The smells …. were SOOO good.
I also used some of the most odd…. spaghetti noodles I’ve ever used. They were ‘edamame’ spaghetti noodles, and they have a really different texture which worked well with the flavors of the stroganoff.
I started out with onions, because it seems like almost every pasta dish goes well with onions. The recipe on the packet didn’t actually call for onions, but I’m thankful that God created the onion that can add that boost of flavor to almost every single meal. (unless it’s cake)
Step #1: Saute those onions. And add in sausage. I added homemade elk maple sausage. If you’d rather not have the meat, you can omit that step.
Step #2: After the meat is cooked, add in the 1 3/4 cup water and 1 cup of milk. I broke my noodles in half and added about 8-12 oz of noodles.
Step #3: After boiling the noodles in the water and milk, you sprinkle in that seasoning and whisk it around.
Step #4: Add parmesan cheese, because ALWAYS add cheese, unless you don’t like cheese. 🙂
Step #5: ….. Enjoy. I was so thankful for how quickly the meal came together, and the spice packet from Wild Tree really made it so much faster. I pulled out that packet, and it helped me know what I was going to cook for dinner. It also had the perfect blend of herbs, a bit of saltiness (but not too much), and it made the sauce creamy.
Oh yes, and the last step would be to make sure that your husky does not eat any of the stroganoff, though it would be very tempting for her.
As I’m taking this step back from the blog and podcast (less writing and less podcasting), I’ve been really grateful to jump back into the joy of cooking and baking. For a while at the beginning of the blog, I had so many friends who are wonderful food bloggers (and I thought I should be too), but I realized that that’s not the mission God has given me. I have a different mission, and I want to exercise it as well as I can for God’s glory. I don’t necessarily create recipes for the blog, but when I have something to share that would hopefully be helpful for those reading the blog, like these convenient Wild Tree samples, I’m so happy to share them.
To finish out this blog post, I wanted to share some rich Scripture that’s been filling my heart with hope and new wonder at Who God is and how I get to be His child only by the blood of Jesus. I just can hardly take in that this God is my Father too?
‘Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners: The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:’ (Psalm 146:3-8)
That’s what God is in the business of doing. He sent Jesus to LOOSE the prisoners. Are you heavy laden by sin, by guilt, by knowing that you can’t please God? That’s why Jesus is here. That’s why Jesus calls you to come to Him, confess your sin, and find the glorious liberty of the children of God!
It’s just so awesome I can’t take it all in; LOVE you all <3.
