Disclosure: I did receive products from Arctic Zero and Don’t Go Nuts in exchange for the reviews. All opinions are 100% my own.
Well, I think it’s time to just share a currently post, because I have some current thoughts on cake, scales, and the elephant in my head, that I need to not be afraid of, so I need to talk about it with you.
Let’s get the elephant in my head out of the way first.
Ok, so in the writing world, it’s often almost stigmatized to talk about religion.
There. I said it.
But… I want to share something from the very BOTTOM of my heart.
Religion is not something I want to shove down your throat, but I can’t not talk about it, because it’s me. It’s the very core of who I am.
2 Corinthians 5:17, ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.’
This isn’t my opinion I’m sharing with you, but it’s the truth of who I am.
You see. I think something is very wrong with the world, that we aren’t what we were meant to be.
Genesis proves that. God created EVERYTHING good.
So why do we have suffering, pain, tears, struggle?
That’s not from God.
Who is it from? Ephesians 2:1-3, ‘And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.’
So, the devil is a deceitful liar, and I believe that his lie, when man listened to it, cast us into an estate of sin and misery.
Why is ISIS in the world? Because men’s hearts were separated from God.
We live in this world, where it’s easy to just say that morality is relative. But if morality is relative, there’s no absolute standard for right and wrong?
So, yes, I do believe in God, that God created each one of us, and that originally we were created with a certain glory about us.
Yet, we fell from that glory, and my whole life’s mission is to share the good news, that JESUS CHRIST came to restore that glory, to give us hope that we would be taken out of these bodies that suffer and struggle someday and have a NEW body someday in heaven where we can worship God and He will wipe away all tears from our eyes.
This isn’t an external ‘religion’ of do’s and don’ts. I’m in a relationship with God, because of Jesus Christ. It’s not a buddy, buddy relationship. He made me, and though I can’t fully explain it, I just know that He’s my Father.
What does it all mean?
It means that I’m waiting on something.
I’m waiting for glory, because I know this world isn’t the end, and I want others to have that hope, that LIFE goes on beyond this world, that we were created (not randomly evolved) by God and for God. I want you to know that I care about your soul, but God cares FAR more about your soul.
The gospel is free. It’s not a heavy burden that men place on you. It is the LIGHT burden of being God’s child.
It came at a high cost for God. John 3:16, ‘For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.’
My prayer is that this blog would communicate hope. I want to communicate that in Christ there is the HOPE Of eternity with God, in relationship with God.
Philippians 3:20-21, ‘For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
I love you all. I don’t condemn you if you don’t agree with me, but I do want and pray that you might have this hope of glory.
Now what else is going on currently in my head and life that I can share with you?
Currently thinking about this Favorite Event: This carnival came to our DINKY country town last week, and we went. It was so funny, because I wouldn’t have ever imagined that they would come to our town. Our town probably has um… 3,000 people? Maybe, I’m wrong, but it was really fun. Have you ever been to a carnival? I did one of the rides, and then I helped devour some of the delicious nachos that my dad bought.
Spending time with family doing anything is ALWAYS fun. I’m so thankful that God chose to give me my family. I just feel so blessed.
CURRENTLY: Eating my Favorite Snack – So I found this company called ‘Don’t Go Nuts’, and I discovered that they don’t have ANY nuts in their products. I love Cliff bars, but for people who are really allergic to nuts, they aren’t feasible. I’m thankful that God gives people ideas to make delicious bars that are NUT free. These are nut free, and this is their Gorilla Power bar. It’s like a delicious mini Cliff bar without any trace of a nut allergen.
They are super kid-friendly, and the packaging is really fun. 🙂
CURRENTLY Craving: All things grilled… I love grilled food. It’s like a tremendous taste of summer. I confess that I used to hate summer, but this past year, I’ve really been convicted that I wasn’t giving thanks in everything by complaining about the heat of summer. This year God has been really working on me to see just how many blessings there are in each season.
One thing I’m grateful for though? I’m grateful that someday God will restore the earth with the new heavens and the new earth, and that winter will no longer kill the plants. That’s truly a happy, joyful, hopeful thought.
Revelation 21:1-4, ‘And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.’
This is my hope.
CURRENTLY Cooking: I made this delicious and SUPER fast enchilada last night. WHO ELSE LOVES Mexican food?
Here is the quick recipe if you want to make it:
Quick 30 minute Beef Enchilada Recipe
1 can olives
2 cups colby jack cheese
1 lb. ground beef
2 cloves garlic
1 jar spaghetti sauce (yes, spaghetti sauce)
1 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/4 c. salsa
Saute beef and onion in oil. Add garlic. Cook till done. 🙂 Then mix the salsa with the spaghetti sauce, cumin, and chili powder.
Pull an 8×8 pan out of your cupboard. Pour a layer of sauce on the bottom. Layer a tortilla on top. Sprinkle with beef mixture, shredded cheese, and sauce. Repeat until you run out of tortillas. Top with the last bit of beef. Sprinkle GENEROUSLY with cheese.
Bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes. Thank the LORD for enchiladas!
CURRENTLY Wondering at: God’s creatures. Isn’t it incredible to think that God takes care of the little birds? If God takes care of the little birds, why do I ever worry that He won’t take care of me?
CURRENTLY Breakfasting on: Kristy’s Carrot Cake Baked Oatmeal. Kristy does the best baked oatmeal recipes, and she has a literal library of all the oatmeal recipes. I even got to include 3 of her yummy baked oatmeal recipes in my ‘High Calorie Breakfast Bowl’ round-up this week.
CURRENT Instagram Recovery Inspiration Account: Lyss is constantly encouraging and serving others with her posts on her Instagram account. She posts frequently, and she posts heartfelt posts where she literally just gives a verbal hug to every recovery warrior. Her words truly build others up and encourage me in the faith.
CURRENTLY Drinking: Lots of iced tea… I love iced tea with a bit of stevia and sometimes lemon juice. It makes a drink thaat really perks one up during those mid-afternoon slumps.
CURRENT Most Interesting Food: Arctic Zero. People have mixed opinions on this one. Some people hate it. Others love it.
What are my thoughts??
It’s not icecream, but it’s good.
It’s a good option for those who can’t have much sugar.
It tastes like a frozen protein shake, because in essence that’s more of what it is than icecream. To find out more about why the company was started you can go to their website and read the story. 🙂
It’s fun to eat the whole pint.
And it came in the CUTEST care package, after Arctic Zero reached out to me and asked if I would want to try a few pints to share. Arctic Zero’s blogger service is 100%.
Current Recovery Thoughts:
#1 – READ this speech by Winston Churchhill.
‘We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.”’
That is RECOVERY. Do not surrender. Do not give in to the lies in your head, because God put you here. Your life was and is not random. God made you. God designed you in His image, and you can FIGHT in the strength of Christ alone.
#2- Who cares about that number on the scale? It doesn’t define worth. Christ Jesus is our worth. The scale is not. And the mirror? The mirror just doesn’t like me, so right now, I don’t spend time in front of it, because LIFE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN A MIRROR!
Current Favorite Dessert: Any icecream. 🙂 My sisters also made this amazing marshmallow fondant and put it on yellow cake. The cakes were beautiful, and although I don’t normally like fondant, THIS WAS SO GOOD!
CURRENT Favorite Places to find workouts:
1. Brie’s Pinterest Board
2. Ivanna’s Youtube Channel – She also has a wonderful squat and pushup workout that I did this week.
3. Chrissa’s Blog – I haven’t tried them yet, but I’m going to tomorrow, Lord willing!
4. Millionaire Hoy Workout Videos – This guy has so much energy, and his workouts are not too long for me. I used to do workouts that were SO LONG, when I was really obsessed with exercise, but now life is so much more than a workout. However, it is fun to MOVE happy, because God made our bodies to MOVE.
CURRENT Favorite Nut Butter: This D’s Naturals Fluff Butter? I have found my most favorite protein butter. 🙂 It’s just really good, and I’m sad it’s gone, but it was a really delicious treat from Dana. I can’t wait to do more giveaways in the upcoming months for more yummy nut butters.
CURRENT Memory: If you ever go to Ireland, you must go horseback riding on the beach. It is a surreal beautiful experience, and it really just showed me the peace, the wonder, the awe that is in God’s creation.

Current Blogger Who Has Taught and Is Teaching Me SO MUCH! – Can we talk about Nicole Culver from Blissful Eats Granola? This girl set up a Food Entrepeneur Summit that had a WHOLE week of golden content from every kind of person from bloggers to food business owners to business experts that taught me SO Much about blogging and connecting and caring and stepping out in courage to do the things we fear. I can’t imagine how many hours of work Nicole put into this, and she also poured her love and life into the Facebook group, answering everybody’s questions, investing in each person who asked questions, and encouraging people. She is a true blessing, and I can’t believe it took me this long, but I FINALLY ordered some of her Paleo granola this week, and I hope it comes before we leave on a road trip next week.
And last but not least:

1 John 4:15-19, ‘Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.’
